Athena RIC is comprised of the following Institutes
- ILSP (Institute for Language and Speech Processing) with Director Dr S. Raptis, Principal Researcher
- ISI (Industrial Systems Institute) with Director prof. D. Serpanos, Professor at the University of Patras
- IMSI (Information Management Systems Institute) with Director prof. M. Garofalakis, Professor at the Technical University of Crete
Five units have been established under Athena RIC:
- Hellenic Technology Cluster Initiative (Corallia) with Scientific Coordinator prof. V. Makios, Emeritus Professor at the University of Patras
- Space Programmes Unit (SPU) with Scientific Coordinator prof. E.Sarris, Professor at the Democritus University of Thrace
- Robot Perception and Interaction (RPI) Unit with Scientific Coordinator, prof. P. Maragos, Professor at the National Technical University of Athens
- Environmental and Networking Technologies and Applications Unit (ENTA) with Scientific Coordinator prof. S. Rapsomanikis, Professor at the Democritus University of Thrace
- Pharma-Informatics Unit with Scientific Coordinator prof. P. Macheras, Emeritus Professor at the National University of Athens
