Giorgos Giannopoulos is a post-doc fellow at the Information Management Systems Institute (IMSI) of "Athena" Research and Innovation Centre. He received his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, in 2006 and his PhD in Computer Science from NTUA in 2013. From 2007 to 2008 he was a research assistant in the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP) and from 2008 to 2013 a research assistant at IMSI. He was involved in projects regarding the development of database and management applications for biological, medical and linguistic data. He is currently involved in projects handling integration and retrieval issues on semantic and geospatial data, while his research interests also include: information retrieval, re-ranking, personalization/diversification, semantic web, geospatial data management, machine learning, clustering, natural language processing.
