G. Tambouratzis obtained the Diploma in electrical engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1989. From October 1989 to September 1993 he pursued his postgraduate studies at Brunel University, which led to the award of an M.Sc.in Digital Systems (1990) and a Ph.D. in Pattern Recognition and Neural Networks (1993). He has been associated with the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP / R.C. "Athena") since February 1996. Since March 1999, he holds a research post at the ILSP / R.C. "Athena". He has participated in the research projects EUFONON, KEMES, METIS, METIS-2. He has been assigned the co-ordination of the VEMUS/IST project and the PENED03/ED97 project. He has served as a reviewer in several international scientific journals and conferences. He has served as a member of the Programme Committees and National Scientific Committees of international conferences. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (since1989), a member of the IEEE (since 1990), a member of the IEEE Systems, Man & Cybernetics Society (since 1992), and a Member of the IEEE Neural Networks Society since 2003 and of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society since 2005
