Dr Aggeliki Fotopoulou joined ILSP / R.C. "Athena" as a research scientist in December 1999. She has studied linguistics and philosophy at university of Athens. As a member of the French group of Eurotra (machine translation project) was completed her PhD at the University Paris 8 - St Denis (February 1993) with Prof. M. Gross (lexical and syntactic analysis of frozen expressions /idioms). Her post-doc studies were conducted at the Institut National des Telecommunications (INT) in Paris (electronic dictionary and thesaurus of telecommunications terms). She joined INT since in 1993, and she was responsible for the Natural Language Processing module. She was the coordinator of the French group for the project POINTER (European project for terminology). Then she was the person mainly responsible for a number of projects funded by the EU (LRE, MLAP, COPERNICUS). She collaborated so far as researcher with the Spoken Language Processing Group at LIMSI - CNRS and Laboratoire Automatique Documentaire and Linguistique (LADL) at Universite P7.
Since 2008 is researcher B (Senior Researcher). She had the scientific responsibility for the projects:
Both as a leader and as a member of different research groups, she is currently working on sentiment predicate (nouns, verbs) analysis, multiword expressions (syntactic, semantic, psycholinguistic analysis and computational treatment) and, semantic and syntactic structuring of lexica.
She has taught in various Universities (INT, Universite Paris 7 and Paris 8, University of Athens) at both graduate and undergraduate level and has published extensively in international journals and conferences
