Langscan aimed at the linguistic analysis of the key phenomena in modern Greek in order to create a reliable, long-lasting standardisation of the linguistic description of the language, to be used by researchers, grammar writers and the industry. The results of this project will be exploited for developing grammars and lexica designed to support Natural Language Processing or Machine Translation.
Within the LANGSCAN framework, specifications were set for modern Greek in the areas of morphology, lexical structure, phrase structure of main grammatical categories, "movement", "verb tense" and "aspect" phenomena.
