The project aimed to develop an information processing system in the field of hazardous material transportation. Initially all the regulations concerning the whole chain of transportation of these materials (such as storage in transport vehicles, handling of materials in ports, tunnels etc.) were locally collected in the EU and outside it. Emergency actions were included. Following this, an information service specializing in the mineralization of dangers related to transportation of materials was created. The application is available through a telematic network from all the EU countries, via a mobile terminal. Part of the application is supported by a voice recognition system.
The project is applied to the following sectors: harbours, shipping companies, airports, police, fire brigade, insurance companies, banks and legal organisations. Interconnection: The user can choose the source - target language from all the languages of the European Union. Techniques included: text alignment, text retrieval, multilingual terminology, controlled languages.
